Compassionate care with a commitment to dignity, comfort, and support.

Who We Are

Our story is deeply rooted in compassion and dedication at White Rose Hospice. Our journey began with my mother, Jerene Maierle, a social worker who, in the 1970s and 1980s, recognized the critical need for hospice care in our community. At a time when hospice was only available through volunteers, and Medicare had not yet recognized it as a benefit, Jerene became a pioneer in the hospice movement. She worked tirelessly to ensure that families received the needed care and helped lay the groundwork for hospice to become a Medicare benefit. Jerene opened several hospices and provided free care to countless families before officially founding Hospice of Arizona in 1994, out of her kitchen. My sister, Connie, was right by her side, becoming the first hospice worker to introduce hospice care to care homes.

In 1996, I joined my mother and sister, and together, we grew the organization from its humble beginnings to one of the largest hospices in the world, with over 1,000 patients under our care. Our commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care has always been at the heart of our mission. Today, the legacy my mother started continues through White Rose Hospice, where we remain dedicated to providing the highest level of comfort, dignity, and support to patients and their families. Our deep-rooted history drives us to ensure everyone receives the care they deserve during life’s most difficult moments.
